Facebook Fanpages For Small Business

There is no doubt Facebook Fanpages are changing the way industry does business. Everyone is jumping on board these days from Television Networks to Fast Food chains it has become astonishingly evident that Facebook Advertising is here to stay.

pringles 270x300 Facebook Fanpages For Small BusinessPringle’s  Potato Chips is a great example of how large corporations are taking advantage of this phenomenon that’s sweeping the globe. They currently have over 15,000,000 fans and growing. A fan is someone who has clicked on the  LIKE button and in doing so has given them(in this case Pringles) the right to market their brand and products to them directly. With one status update their message could be seen by potentially 15 Million People! And these are just potato chips…

victoria secret 2 300x202 Facebook Fanpages For Small BusinessVictorian Secret’s approach to Fanpages is simplistic yet extremely effective. Also boasting over 15 Million fans, they have incorporated e-commerce into their social marketing strategy and have effectively increased their sales and branded themselves  leaders in social network marketing. They are offering free apps for “LIKING” their pages so now you can take sexy with you anywhere!

Lady Gaga 300x282 Facebook Fanpages For Small BusinessLady Gaga has leveraged the power of her Fanpage to over 43 Million fans. Using video on Fanpages is an extremely effective way to get pages to go “VIRAL”. Basically viral means that the page or video creates a social buzz which gets fans talking about it and passing around to their friends and family who in turn pass it along and so on and so on etc…

Some pages have been known to grow by hundreds of thousands of fans in as little as a single day!

What about Small business?

Local businesses have recently begun to realize that Fanpages aren’t just for large companies anymore. Getting small business fanpages to grow has become a viable and inexpensive medium for building company exposure and increasing sales while establishing a brand.

The methodology is the same… Offer a gift or a bonus for the simple act of  “CLICKING LIKE”.  When the Like button is clicked on it automatically unlocks another page with instruction on how to get the gift.

The first page is called The Landing Page or a ‘LIKE REVEAL’ page. This is where a visitor see’s the offer and is enticed to click the like button. When they do click on that button, not only do they get their gift but they are also posting to their wall that they have liked that particular pages. When their friends see that, they may be compelled to do the same and so on. A good offer often can go viral extremely fast. The average Facebook user has close to 2oo friends, and their friend have friends etc.

Here’s an example of a simple Fanpage with a LIKE REVEAL.

fb2 300x243 Facebook Fanpages For Small Business

The 2nd page is the REVEAL page and is what the visitor will see after they click on the like button. A business can offer a variety of offers here. Coupons are one of the most popular offers of a reveal page and  often contains a coupon code that fans can print and redeem at a physical location

The yellow button in the first screenshot that is offering Instant Facebook Access is an application that can be included into Facebook Pages. These applications open up in separate windows asking for permission to access information that is already public. This gives the Fanpage owner the ability to use the information for future marketing endeavors. This can be an extremely powerful tool and can increase the viral ability of a page dramatically.

Facebook has revolutionized the way businesses are approaching their marketing campaigns.  Newspaper,  Radio, and Yellow Pages simply don’t work anymore. A facebook Page, once in place, can generate business for years with little or no maintenance. A facebook account is free and anyone with a computer, smart phone, or tablet can create an account in as little as a couple of minutes.

If you’re interested in creating your own Fanpage, we have some free software that you can use to generate a professional looking Fanpage in about 10 minutes.  Just click on the button below!

Western Mass Knob and Tube

In Western Massachusetts  Knob and Tube wiring was a standardwestern mass knob and tube 150x89 Western Mass Knob and Tube system of open electrical conductors supported on ceramic knobs. It also used ceramic knobs where wires cross each other or pass through framing. This type of wiring was in common use from the 1880′s to 1930′s, in North America.

In Western Mass during this era when knob and tube was in common use, a typical home would have 30 or 60 amp electrical service, sufficient for general lighting and maybe a radio. In those days people were still using  “iceboxes”, wood or gas stoves, coal heat, and no air conditioning. Professional wiring by electricians in  homes was a new trade and there were very few rules.

American Electricians Handbook was the first home wiring guide to electrical rules which appeared around the turn of the century, when Terrell Croft wrote the  Crofts books defining early wiring practices. One of Croft’s rules was that knob and tube wiring should always be run through, never over the house framing. The problem with running wiring over framing is that it can get bumped, snagged, and damaged.

The advantage of knob and tube wiring is that it dissipates heat into free air, and therefore has a higher ampacity than cable systems with equivalent wire size. When originally installed in the 1900′s knob and tube wiring was less expensive than other wiring methods. Due to the installation cost, owners and electricians would opt for knob and tube versus conduit wiring and metal junction boxes. The conduit methods were known to be of better quality, but their cost was significantly higher than knob and tube wiring.

Modern wiring methods assume two or more load carrying conductors will lie against each other, for instance the standard non-metallic – 2 cable. Since the load carrying wires are in close proximity, when they heat up, the heating is shared across the wires, limiting the overall current load they can support. Since the load carrying wires in knob and tube wiring are widely spaced, the wires are capable of carrying higher loads without risk of fire.

Knob and tube wiring was usually insulated with cotton cloth and soft rubberand porcelain insulators. Although the actual wire covering may have degraded over the decades, the porcelain insulators have a very long lifespan and will keep any bare wires safely insulated. These same porcelain insulators were used with bare wire electric fencing for livestock. These insulators can carry very high voltage surges without the risk of shorting to ground. Many electricians understand that by running the hot and neutral conductors farther apart from each other than today’s electrical cabling does make shorts between those conductors less likely, at the same time realizing there is not a grounding conductor.

Knob and tube is insufficient for current usage patterns. Contemporary households use a wide range and intensity of electrical equipment that was unforeseen at the time of knob and tube inception. Household power use increased following World War II, first generation wiring systems became susceptible to abuse by homeowners, who would avoid repeated blown fuses by over fusing the circuits, thus subjecting the wiring to heat damage due to higher levels of current.desellier logo1 Western Mass Knob and Tube

In many instances deterioration and abuse have rendered the wiring unsafe. During building renovations and remodeling wiring can become damaged. The rubber insulation will become dried out, brittle when handled, damage by rodent, or simple carelessness…

If you live in Western Massachusetts and you’re concerned about the Knob and Tube wiring in your home, give us a call for an in home inspection and estimate.

Small Business Success in Western Mass

Why Your Business Needs To Be Part Of The Stonebrook Group

So you’ve decided to take the leap and get your small business online. The first thing you need to ask yourself when planning your Stonebrook Page is why you have decided to create a web presence in the first place.

6 Most Common Reasons For Building a Small Business Web Presence:

We’re going to examine six of the most common reasons why a business needs a web presence. Many of these reasons are valid but require a more refined approach if you’re going to achieve the greatest return on your investment in your new Stonebrook Page.

Reason #1: I simply need my address and phone number online so people can find my business.

p 008 108x150 Small Business Success in Western MassReality
You can register that information and more in our free directory and we encourage you to do so. However, if you were looking up a business online, do you think that simply a name and a phone number would compel you to contact them about their product and services? Possibly, but when you consider that you have as much space as you want to use for your business online, why wouldn’t you use it?.In the world of virtual real estate,  you’re not constrained by square feet. Take your time and connect with your customer. The reality is that for an increasing number of your customers, your website will be the first impression you make.

Solution

  • Introduce Yourself – You need to create some content that will introduce your business to your potential customers.
  • Be Creative – Use your imagination to capture your company’s personality and present yourself in a way that will stand out from the competition.
  • Establish Yourself as an expert – Dedicating part of your webpage to tips or news from your industry will inspire consumer confidence. It will also provide a significant boost for your site’s SEO and keep your visitor on your site longer.
  • Sell – Your web-page needs to provide a clear call to action, whether that is through a free estimate, coupon, sample or consultation that will get you hooked up to the customer.

Reason 2: Everybody says I need a web presence.

1275882066 iMac Small Business Success in Western MassReality
You may not be very savvy with technical trends, but the result of that is that you are missing out on visibility to a huge percentage of your market, including each new generation of consumer.

Solution
Recognize that times are changing and your business can change with them. Maybe you know that you need a website but you’re clueless about how that process will work. That’s what the Stonebrook Group is all about.

Reason 3: I want my business to be more professional looking.

004 08 123x150 Small Business Success in Western MassReality
You definitely need a web presence in order to be a truly professional business. However, most business owners who simply want a cheap website to make them appear professional can miss the mark entirely by failing to present a well-formed business identity. You can’t simply toss the site off to a company to create for you without defining a solid set of goals for your online presence. When you first formed your business, you decided what your business was about: your business objectives and philosophy. Developing your web presence should be no different. If you’re not truly showing the face of your business to online customers, then you will never achieve the results you’re hoping for.

Solution
Take time to plan your business objectives concerning your website. Make sure that you have quality photos if you’re using your own. Make sure the website copy has been proofed and is descriptive and engaging. Be prepared to respond to customer inquiries in a timely fashion, just as if they stepped into your work place. Consider new ways of communicating with potential customers, including online chat, skype, email, social networking, etc.

Reason 4: I want to be number one on Google and Yahoo.

Google 300 150x150 Small Business Success in Western Mass
Reality
Absolutely! Good search engine rankings will be one of the best ways to get noticed online. Keep in mind, everyone wants to be in the top of their search category.

Solution
When you become a premium member of The Stonebrook Group, you are already ahead of the competition. We integrate into our platform highly optimized site maps that are structured to get visitors to your page. We already rank on the first page of Google, Yahoo, and Bing for hundreds of keywords… Simply put, that means traffic for all our members!

Reason 5: My competitor has one.

1275881820 boxing gloves Small Business Success in Western MassReality
They may have gotten the jump on you with an online presence but this can be a golden opportunity to analyze their sites and see how you can improve upon their strategies.

Solution
Distinguish yourself. Consider what your competitor is doing before you create your web-page. Look for parts of the market that your competitor has neglected. Whatever you do, don’t try to make a web-page like all the others.

Reason 6: I want to sell online.

1275881627 shopcartapply 128x128 Small Business Success in Western MassReality
Well that’s what it’s all about isn’t it? There isn’t a business website that shouldn’t be selling, whether it’s a product, an idea, or simply your brand. Never underestimate the value of a strong, recognizable brand.
Solution
Start creating your Web presence today. Within a few minutes you could be on your way to creating your own Stonebrook Page. When you do, include a clear call to action to your consumers. Provide them with a compelling reason to consider giving you their business along with a phone number, a link to your website or Facebook Page, or simply an email address, and soon you will see customers flooding in as a result of your efforts.

PayPal upgrades iPhone app to enable mobile check capture

via Mobile Commerce Daily by Dan Butcher on 10/7/10

9878 PayPal upgrades iPhone app to enable mobile check capture

Use your iPhone to deposit your checks directly into your PayPal account

PayPal Mobile’s application for Apple’s iOS now lets consumers transfer checks into their accounts for free by taking a photo with their iPhone.

The mobile check capture service is powered by BankServ. PayPal launched this new feature to encourage its accountholders to skip their next trip to the bank when they receive a check.

“Mobile check capture eliminates consumers’ need to visit their bank every time they receive a check, helping consumers save time and energy,” said Anuj Nayar, director of global communications at PayPal, San Jose, CA.

“We use technology provided by BankServ to make this possible for our U.S. customers,” he said.

PayPal has been quite active in the mobile space.

In June, PayPal, an eBay company, made its highly requested Guest Payments feature available to developers via its open global payments platform PayPal X (see story).

In July, PayPal rolled out a mobile version of its Express Checkout service for iPhone and Android that lets merchants offer the same PayPal experience for their on-the-go customers (see story).

In August, PayPal updated its iPhone application to let users donate to more than 23,000 charities, including The American Cancer Society, Save the Children and UNICEF (see story).

Mobile check capture
Mobile check capture is just one of the new features that PayPal added to its recently released iPhone 2.7 application.

Once users have photographed their check, PayPal recommends that they hold on to it for 15 days before throwing it away.

To get the iPhone application, consumers can visit http://www.PayPal.com/mobile or download it directly from the iTunes App Store.

“We are always on the lookout for ways to improve our customers’ experience in all 190 markets in which we operate and decided to implement this great new service in the U.S.,” Mr. Nayar said.

PayPal continues to ramp up the features of its mobile apps

PayPal has not announced whether or not it will expand mobile check capture to its applications for Google’s Android or Research In Motion’s BlackBerry devices.

Laura Chambers, senior director of PayPal Mobile, announced the addition of mobile check capture to her company’s iPhone application in a blog post.

“We all agree that the future of money is digital, so it’s hard to believe that there are people and businesses in the U.S. still using an analog technology that’s 400 years old—yes, I’m talking about checks,” Ms. Chambers said.

“Have you ever been handed a check and thought about when you’ll have a chance to get to the bank to deposit it?” she said. “I’ve carried checks around for months before finally making the time to run to the bank or ATM to deposit them.

“That’s all about to change.”

The Awesome Power of Mobile Marketing

Instant Marketing with Text Messaging

If you’ve been involved in Internet Marketing in the last ten years, then you know that traffic is king. Even if you have the finest product in your industry, if nobody ever sees or hears about it, it might as well be the worst. You may have also heard the term “the money is in the list”. That term still rings true, but the lists and the ways they should be managed have all changed. Since the inception of the Dot Com Era, consumers have been inundated with massive amounts of marketing and advertising. As a result they have become callous almost to the point of indifference, subconsciously filtering it all out. This consumer indifference creates whole new set of challenges when trying to reach a target audience.

Enter Mobile Marketing

One might attribute the power of Mobile Marketing to lie within it’s newness. The welcome change that comes with a fresh approach to consumer affairs. Mobile Marketing is the one tool that consistently reaches it’s target audience relatively unencumbered by the staleness of campaign drones. In fact,an estimated 97% of text messages are actually being read. Not only that but they are being read with 15 minutes of being sent. Globally businesses are experiencing huge success with the incredible power of instant marketing through a mobile platform. Record breaking sales are happening right now as more and more businesses are turning to this powerful new advertising medium.

Did You Know?

* There are upwards of 5 billion Mobile phone users in the world… and growing

  • Almost every cell phone in circulation can receive text messages
  • There are 5 times more mobile users than those using the internet.
  • 50% of internet connections are now coming from Smart Phones
  • Apple recently sold over 2 million new iPhones
  • Android is activating over 160,000 new smart phones every day
  • The majority of people keep their phones within 3 feet of them at all times

“A recent study showed that most people would rather be without their wallets than their cell phones”.

Text messaging is fast becoming the largest growing market segment and the most used service on mobile phones. Since Mobile Marketing is a permission based platform there is a much higher consumer confidence. A targeted buyer who has opted into a promotional campaign is far more likely to buy that particular product and service. This marketing media instantly reaches people where they are! Mobile Marketing through text messages enables businesses to send updates, announcements and invitations to segmented groups within their customer base.

This is the beginning of a new marketing era. The majority of businesses are yet to implement a mobile marketing strategy, partly because it is uncharted waters but mostly due to the simple fact that they just haven’t heard about it yet.  However it is just a matter of time until they discover the benefits which include:

* Lucrative lead generation
* Continuous “at will” marketing
* Instant updates, coupons, announcements and promotions
* Easy consumer analytic s for a targeted data base
* Powerful company branding capabilities
* Pinpoint location marketing

and so much more…

The golden rule of opt-in permission based marketing is simple… Provide value. Time and time again it has been proven that those who give the most, get the most. Providing value to customers is the best way to ensure buyer loyalty. There has never been a time when it was so easy to provide value. With the push of a few buttons, it is now possible to provide value to an entire group as easy as it is to a single customer. It is absolutely possible to use Mobile Marketing as a stand alone campaign but Integration of Text Message Marketing into existing on-line and off-line endeavors is more powerful still. Converting existing customers into text club members is as easy as an email, social media, some signage, and some face to face interaction. The ability to build a massive list of targeted subscribers is changing the direction businesses are focusing their marketing efforts forever.

How to Promote an Event with Digital Marketing

via mobileStorm by Mobile Guru on 9/30/10

calendar pre event black 300x264 How to Promote an Event with Digital MarketingFrom a business perspective, events are an effective way to reach out to customers, prospects and colleagues on a personal level.  Without the proper promotion, however, you compromise all the potential benefits.  A multi-channel approach using digital marketing is one of the most efficient and effective ways to promote an event, but how do you leverage each channel to your advantage?

Starting early, the most important goal is to build a presence on as many digital channels as possible.  Whether it’s SMS, email and Online marketing, social media or any other channel, start spreading the word about your event as early as possible.  This builds an initial foundation for future promotion that you can optimize and use to build the most awareness.  Simply blasting out information isn’t as effective as diversifying your messages on numerous channels to ensure you reach your audience no matter which channel they prefer.

Each digital channel has unique benefits as well as limitations, and it’s important to leverage the strengths of each to build the most effective promotional campaign possible.  Channels like SMS and certain social media concepts like Twitter promotion are limiting in terms of the message you can broadcast, but extremely effective in acquiring real-time responses.  Online and email marketing provide the opportunity to divulge much more information about your event, but present their own set of limitations and drawbacks.

Take a hard look at the strengths and weaknesses of each channel and design a unique campaign around each.  Broadcasting a blanket message on all channel compromises the benefits of a multi-channel approach in the first place.

It’s also important to use each of these promotional channels to drive traffic to a central location that attendees can reference at a later time, such as a dedicated web page. This way, when the time of the event draws near, attendees can go back to that page for additional details rather than trying to locate the email, sms message, etc., that initially notified them.  It’s also valuable to integrate an RSVP strategy into the event planning.  This is valuable because it can tell you how well your campaign is performing, can help you plan for the number of attendees and can increase attendance overall by asking recipients for a small commitment to attend.  This also gives you the ability to send them reminders and additional information about the event.  RSVPs can be collected by a dedicated email or use a RSVP manager such as the one offered by mobileStorm.

mobileStorm recently held an event at the Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas Nevada to celebrate a decade in business.  Customers, prospects and business partners were invited to the event in order to meet face-to-face with mobileStorm executives and sales people in the hopes that this would lead to stronger and longer lasting relationships between all.  In order to make sure it was well-attended, mobileStorm created a multi channel marketing strategy that included a dedicated landing page, custom emails, print advertisements and web banners.  Customizable email templates were also distributed among the mobileStorm sales team so that they could add a personalized touch to invitations.  All of these marketing vehicles directed traffic towards an RSVP manager that collected names, email addresses and phone numbers.  This information allowed mobileStom to plan for attendance, evaluate marketing performance and send additional messages to registrants as the event neared.  In all, over 400 RSVPs were recorded with attendance at around 250, making the event a rousing success.

Global Mobile Advertising Industry Grows 17% in Q3, According To BuzzCity Index

via Mobile Marketing Watch by Justin on 10/5/10

Global Mobile Advertising Industry Grows 17 Percent in Q3 According To BuzzCity Index Global Mobile Advertising Industry Grows 17% in Q3, According To BuzzCity IndexNew data released today from mobile media firm BuzzCity indicate the global mobile advertising industry grew by 17% during Q3 2010, with specific regions showing growth as high as 154% during the three-month period ending Oct. 1st.

The results, which were published in BuzzCity’s “Global Mobile Advertising Index for Q3 2010,” indicate a total of 54 markets each delivering monthly traffic exceeding 10 million impressions per month — an increase from 44 markets in Q2 and 32 markets in Q1.

Some interesting takeaways include the fact that while Indonesia ranked number one worldwide in terms of ad-banners served (3,685,538,814), its overall growth during Q3 declined by 16%.  Mobile advertising in the U.S grew 70% in Q3, putting it in third place in terms of ads served, while a newcomer to the list — Libya — grew an incredible 154% during Q3 alone, placing it in the number 8 spot worldwide.

In total, 14 countries have witnessed double digit growth in mobile advertising over the last three months, with three markets, Libya, Korea and Kenya, seeing triple digit growth.  It’s important to note that the index tracks activity across BuzzCity’s network of over 2500 publishers across the globe, so it doesn’t necessarily paint the clearest picture of the mobile ad industry as a whole.
